The type of memory card you can use will depend on the type of data you intend on saving or loading. Please choose below:
The Wii console has built-in system memory for saving Wii game data, system settings, Virtual Console games, and Wii Channel data. However, in the event you wish to save to an external device (for instance, to free up some of the system memory), you can use an SD Memory Card.
SD Cards are used in many digital cameras and cell phones, and for data storage on PCs. The Wii console only accepts SD memory cards, including miniSD and microSD when used with their respective adapters.
An SD memory card can be used to store Wii-related data such as game save information, certain data from the Wii Channel applications, and to transfer compatible data (such as digital photos and MP3s) to the Wii console from other devices.

Thinking about purchasing an SD Card?
If you are thinking of purchasing a new SD Card or having difficulty
with an SD Card you already own? There are a few requirements
you should know about:
The slower of the two components will determine the actual speed. For example, if the SD card is only capable of 900 KB per second, the console won't be able to go any higher. Likewise, if an SD card is capable of faster speeds than the console, the rate will remain at the Wii console's maximum.
Photos not appearing when viewed in Wii
Photo Channel?
There are some digital cameras that are known to be incompatible
with the Wii console. When viewing photos taken by an incompatible
camera, the pictures will appears as a "?" mark in the Wii Photo
Channel. For a list of cameras known to be incompatible, click

Note: Nintendo GameCube memory cards can only be used to save game information for Nintendo GameCube Game Discs.
