About Manual Setup:
Manual Setup is for those users who have a unique home
network set up. Most people will not need to use this process.
Only those who need to specify their primary and secondary
DNS, or have static IPs assigned to their wireless devices
should have to use this setup process. Unless you know for
sure, try Search of an Access Point first. Otherwise, we'll
walk you through it.
How to Access this Router's Settings:
For Mac: To access your router's settings, Open the Airport Admin Utility,
located in Applications/Utilities on the computer you use to connect to the wireless network. Once launched, select your base station you use to connect to the wireless network.
For PC: To access your router's settings, open the AirPort Setup Assistant, located in Start > All Programs > AirPort.
Once launched, select your base station you use to connect to the wireless network.
For security reasons, your router may
require you to login with a username and password. By
default, the username and password for this model are:
Username: Not needed
Password: public
If the default username and password are not valid, it
is likely a different username and password were defined
when the router was setup in your home. If you cannot
find or remember the router's username and password, it
may be necessary for you to reset your router. Please
see your router instructions for how to do this.
Once you have access to the settings of your router, you
can use the tabs to locate information.
How to Find or Change the Network (SSID) for this Router:
You can view or change the SSID through the " Airport"
section of your router's set up utility. If you have changed
the name of your access point, it will appear here. If
you have not changed the name, the default SSID will appear
on this tab.
The default SSID for this router is: Apple Network XXXXXX
(where X is a letter or number).
Enter the SSID into the manual setting screen of the Nintendo DS.
How to Find or Change the WEP Key for this Router:
WEP and WPA information for this router can be found through the "Airport" section, by clicking on "
Airport: Change Wireless Security" in your router's set up utility.
More About WEP:
The only security setting that is compatible with the
Nintendo DS is WEP (Wireless Encryption Privacy). If your
router has WPA or any other setting selected, you will
need to change it to WEP, or remove security, to play
your Nintendo DS online using this router. You will only
need to enter a WEP Key if you have WEP security on your
access point.
Many routers offer multiple WEP Key entries (usually numbered
1 through 4) within the router settings. The Nintendo
DS will only recognize the WEP entered in the first (#1)
box of your router settings.
Some routers allow you to enter a Passphrase. This is
then converted to a WEP Key number. When you are entering
a WEP Key into the Nintendo DS, it is the actual WEP Key
that is needed. The Passphrase will not work.
Your router may display hidden characters (such as *******)
for the WEP key. In this case you will need to enter a
new WEP Key. When entering a WEP Key, you have the choice
of Hexadecimal and ASCII. Hexadecimal (HEX) is the easiest
to use. You can either do a 10 digit (64 bit) or 26 digit
(128-bit) key. We recommend the 10-digit, and using an
easy-to-remember number, such as a cell phone number.
Additional Settings for this Router:
To find the information to complete the rest of this screen,
it is best to find your TCP/IP properties on your computer.
You will not need to use the router's settings tabs for
this information.
Windows users: Access
your Control Panel, select Network and Dial Up Connections,
select the Properties for your Local Area Connections, locate
on the list of components the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Select it and click on the Properties button. The
following screen should appear:

Macintosh users: Access your System Preferences, select Internet and Network, and click the Network icon (small globe). The following screen should appear:

Auto Obtain IP Address?
If this is selected on your PC screen, then select Auto-Obtain
IP Address on the manual setup screen of your Nintendo DS.
When using this setting, you will not need to fill in IP
Address, Subnet mask, or Gateway.
IP Address:
If Use the Following IP Address is checked, then
you need to manually assign an IP address to the Nintendo DS. You will need to select an IP address identified in
the pool or scope of addresses assigned in your router.
This information is found with the DHCP information in your
router setting tabs.
Since the pool of addresses is a sequential range, you can add one to the last three digits of the IP address shown on the TCP/IP screen and enter it into the manual setting screen of the Nintendo DS.
Subnet Mask:
Enter the information for Subnet mask into the Nintendo DS
manual setup exactly as it appears on the Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) screen.
Gateway IP Address:
Enter the information for Default gateway into the Nintendo DS's manual setup exactly as it appears on the Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) screen.
Auto-Obtain DNS?
If
Obtain DNS server automatically is selected on
your PC screen, then select Auto-Obtain DNS on the manual
setup screen of your Nintendo DS. When using this setting,
you will not need the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS.
Primary DNS:
If
Use the following DNS server addresses is selected,
then enter the information for Primary DNS server into the
Nintendo DS's manual setup exactly as it appears.
Secondary DNS:
If Use the following DNS server addresses is selected,
then enter the information for Secondary DNS server into
the Nintendo DS's manual setup exactly as it appears.
